Recently, I learned how to make strawberry jam in a bread maker! And it’s actually the most efficient way to make this delicious spread!

Initially, purchased my bread machine with the intention of making homemade bread. But, I quickly discovered what a versatile appliance it was with the ability to make more than just your average loaf. Consequently, I am using it way more than I could have imagined.

Strawberry jam is a favorite of mine, so I came up with my own recipe. Luckily, it came out perfectly on the first try! Not only is it so simple, but it’s so delicious that I had to share.

Do I have to use pectin for jam?

Nope. Sure don’t. But, you will need to use lemon or lime juice to help process the natural pectin in the fruit. However, I chose to use Pectin for this recipe because I didn’t want the lemon or lime juice in the flavor. In addition to strawberry, I do have a blueberry jam bread maker recipe (coming soon) where I use lime juice. And it’s perfect for a pancake topping!

Best Tips for How to Make Strawberry Jam in a Bread Maker

When de-stemming the strawberries, use a straw to push from the bottom through the stem. Bonus if you use a metal straw! It’s stronger than a plastic straw and makes the process smoother. Not to mention, it’s better for the environment!

When the paddles of the bread machine are still, but the jam has been heating for a bit, mash and stir with the fork during the first 15 minutes.

Additionally, you could also pulse the strawberries in your food processor once or twice before placing in your bread maker.

Easy Strawberry Jam for Bread Machine

Equipment

  • Bread Machine with a Jam Setting

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs strawberries de-stemmed and quartered
  • 4 cups of white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of powdered pectin

Instructions

  • Remove and discard the stems from strawberries and cut them into fourths.
  • Lightly mash in a bowl with a potato masher of fork.
  • Put contents of bowl, sugar and pectin in the bread machine pan and initiate the jam program setting.
  • Once complete, remove from bread machine and pour into a large container leaving to cool for at least an hour.
  • Once jam is cool enough, place in the fridge until jam has set (I made this in the evening so I left it in the fridge overnight and woke up to find it at the perfect consistency). Refrigerate and use for up to 7 days or freeze.

One of my favorite aspects of this recipe is the simplicity. It’s super easy and low-maintenance, but it tastes delicious. I don’t can (yet), so I make this jam when strawberries are in season and on sale and freeze it.
